Report of Michigan State University Gospel and Shepherding Meetings

After we came back from Franklin Park, saints at MSU campus were burdened to preach the gospel. We fellowshipped the burden with all the saints, prayed together, prepared the invitations and rented Cherry Lane community center. The plan was to have the truth seminar (forum) and gospel meeting on 8/27 and shepherding seminar (forum) on 8/28.

We started to contact new students by phone and e-mail, picked them up at the airport, and invited them to our regular meetings. We also invited gospel friends to join us on 8/20 to have a BBQ in the park. On 8/21, we trained all the saints on how to use "The Mystery of Human Life" to contact people on the campus and go door knocking. During the week, we also prepared a list of things that needed to be taken care of for all the saints in the gospel meeting.

After a two-week preparation, on 8/27, we had about sixty people attend, and twenty of them were gospel friends. Seven brothers from Franklin Park, Los Angeles, and Farmington Hills came to join us, and ten more saints from Novi, Farmington Hills, Bloomfield, and Troy came to support us and brought a lot of good food to share with the gospel friends.

In the afternoon seminar (forum), a lot of questions rose up about the creation of the universe, evolution, how to be a good Christian, “can I just believe and not be baptized, ” “what is meant by poor in spirit, ” etc. The brothers also used this opportunity to talk about man's three parts, which helped the gospel friends to open their heart and spirit for the evening gospel meeting.

The title of the gospel meeting was "The Key to Open God's Full Salvation – the Spirit and our spirit". In the meeting, we sang, "Spirit begets spirit and spirit worships the Spirit." Three saints shared their testimonies in between. One of them was an old brother who had just gotten saved four months ago. Their testimonies touched a lot of gospel friends' hearts. Then two brothers gave a wonderful message. Based upon the foundation the brothers had established in the afternoon, all the gospel friends were open to the speaking. You could easily tell this from their smiling faces.

Immediately, some brothers started to help the gospel friends to call on the name of the Lord and give a simple prayer. Six of them stood up and received the Lord, and three of them were baptized after the meeting. Everyone was full of joy.

In the second half of 8/28 Lord's Day meeting, we started with verses 6-12 from 1 Thessalonians talking about a nursing mother and an exhorting father. Saints from East Lansing asked a lot of practical questions about how to shepherd others, the new born saints and gospel friends: how to bring gospel friends to the Lord if they are interested only to be your friends and not in the meetings, how to contact people if they are already contacted by other Christian groups, how to preach on the campus, what material to use in door-knocking, etc. The brothers shared with us about their own experience and the lessons learned by them. The meeting was full of anointing and was so sweet. During the lunchtime, Br. Chang gave us a demonstration on how to use the Power Point to present some gospel topics and preach the gospel. Br. Bai also shared the burden of how we could get into the Word and the riches of Br. Nee's and Br. Lee's ministry through the ministry books. They encouraged the saints to have a normal Christian exercising and shepherding living. They also encouraged the saints to attend the seven annual conferences and trainings to receive God's speaking today and blend with all the churches around the globe. It was another big meal to the saints. Hallelujah!

We will continue to contact people and shepherd one another in the coming three months. We also will plan more gospel meetings for these three months by ourselves.
