麻省理工学院(MIT)福音聚会报导To welcome the new students, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) gospel events were arranged in and right after the Labor Day weekend. We had a Labor Day conference, and in the beginning it was a busy time for us because we all desired to go to the conference, and we had to pass out fliers on the campus and serve for the welcome dinner also. Praise the Lord for HIS words! During the conference we were all infused by the divine words, and our inner man was strengthened. Also praise the Lord for His Body! Saints from different localities gave us much support that encouraged us to go on. On September 2nd and 6th we set up tables on campus to pass out tracts and give out dinner invitations. There were altogether more than 50 students who signed up. We found out that lemonade was a very good idea to attract students. We pray that all of them will find the Lord to be the real water to quench their thirst. The first gospel dinner was at MIT on September 4th. On Lord’s Day after the conference meetings, about 30 saints from different localities came to Cambridge to support us for the gospel dinner. Many of them joined the students passing out fliers at MIT and BU (Boston University) campuses and after that they came with the Cambridge brothers and sisters to the gospel dinner to meet with the new students. It was such a glorious testimony that saints of different races and from different places came together to serve and work in one accord. The room that we reserved for the dinner was full of people who were overwhelmed with joy. We talked and laughed and sang and prayed, and everyone was so joyful that we even could not tell who the new ones were. About 17 new students came to the dinner, most of whom were unbelievers. They were very attracted by the wonderful out-flowing of life. One of them even asked us how come everybody’s eyes were shining. When the dinner started, we sang a hymn together and then some brothers and sisters studying at MIT gave their testimonies for Christ and the church. Many new students testified after the dinner that they very much enjoyed the sharing and the hymns. We invited them to go to the homes for dessert, and almost everyone went. In the homes we had more personal fellowship with the new students, and made clear to them the salvation of Christ Jesus. Some of them were very open and they prayed with us. They also expressed interest in the MIT Bible study and home meetings. The second gospel dinner was on September 6th, and 14 new students came. This time most of those who came were believers and had certain religious backgrounds. They also enjoyed the dinner, and some of them came to homes for dessert. It is encouraging that after these two welcome dinners some new students started to join the MIT Bible study and even went to our Friday night home meetings. Not only the new students benefit from these gospel dinners, the saints also gain more Christ from this precious experience. We realize that what we did at MIT is not just a campus gospel work, but is also the building up of the Body of Christ. Our reward is not only the new names that we know or the new students that we bring in; our reward is Christ himself! Day by day, when we meet the new students, preach the gospel to them, or share Christ with them, we have more growing, more blending, and more building up in Christ. May the Lord keep blessing the MIT campus! |
